Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Wolcott Building Office is to process building permit applications, review plans, and inspect construction in the Town of Wolcott in order to assure enforcement of the Town’s compliance codes and ordinances.
Permits
Visit the Online Application Portal for all Building, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Zoning permits.
*A zoning permit is required for any project that will increase property coverage (accessory structures, decks, pools, etc.) or living area (separate application and fee rates).
Please note, applications may take up to 30 days to review. If zoning approval is needed, they will be reviewed within 30 days after receiving the zoning permit.
No work may commence without proper permits.

- What requires a building permit?

Examples: New construction, siding, roofs, additions, accessory structures, windows, swimming pools, solar, decks, retaining walls higher than 3 feet, sheet rock, insulation, demolitions, etc.
Separate permits are available for electrical, mechanical, and plumbing projects (same fee rate).
- Are permits refundable?

Once a permit is issued, no refunds will be given.
- How do I set up an inspection?

Please set up an inspection by calling 203-879-8100 x125
Inspections are typically scheduled:
- Monday and Friday: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: 5 p.m.-7 p.m.
*Inspections canceled with less than 24-hour notice may be subject to a $75 reinspection fee*
- How long are building permits good for?

Permitted work must start within six (6) months of issuance, or a new permit must be pulled.
