Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Town of Wolcott Tax Collector's Office is to administer the tax laws of the State of Connecticut and to uphold the Town Charter in an effort to collect the tax revenues in the most cost-effective manner; achieve the highest level of voluntary compliance through accurate, efficient and courteous customer services, and perform in a manner which instills public confidence in the integrity and fairness of the state's tax programs.
The Town of Wolcott 2024 Grand List mill rate is 35.93 mills.
The State cap on Motor Vehicle mill rate is 32.46 mills.
This means that for every $1,000 of assessment you will pay $35.93 or $32.46 for MV.
Tax bills will be mailed end of June, payment is due July 1, 2025.
The last day to pay without interest is August 1, 2025.
2024 Grand List for Motor Vehicle covers the period of
October 1st, 2024 through September 30th, 2025.
No Real Estate or Personal Property bills will be mailed for the January installment
Supplemental motor vehicle bills (vehicles that are registered after October 1st) are mailed in December. Supplemental Motor vehicle tax bills are issued when a vehicle is purchased after October 1st and before July 31st. For example, if a vehicle is purchased in December of 2023, a supplemental tax bill, covering the months from December 2023 through September 2024, will be due in January 2025.
*Online payments do not reflect the account until the NEXT business day*
If you have delinquent motor vehicle taxes and need to register a vehicle with the Departments of Motor Vehicle, payment must be made with cash, money order, or certified bank check for a release to be issued. If payment is made by personal check, a release will be issued to the DMV after 10 business days.
Failure to receive a tax bill does not invalidate the tax or interest due. As owners of the property, taxpayers are responsible to know when their taxes are due. Failure to have received a bill does not exempt the taxpayer from payment of all taxes and all interest charges and collection costs, per Connecticut General Statutes 12 to 130 and 12 to 146. Interest is charged to all late payments. There are no exceptions to this policy.
