Overview
Board Of Assessment Appeals - Application
Board of Assessment Appeals hearing applications for the October 1, 2023, Grand List Real Estate, Personal Property, and Motor Vehicle assessments or 2022 Supplemental Motor Vehicle Grand List assessment is available in the Assessor's Office and on our website and must be received by close of business (4:30 p.m.) Tuesday, February 20, 2024, if the Grand List is signed in January. (If the Grand List is signed in February applications must be received by close of business (4:30 p.m.) Wednesday, March 20, 2024. It is the Applicant's responsibility to verify their application has been received by the Assessor's Office. If appealing more than one account - a separate Application for Appeal must be filed for each account/property.
Application for Board of Assessment Appeals
Applicants will receive notice with the date and time of their appointment by mail. It is the Applicant's responsibility to watch for their letter of appointment. Typically received within 7 days of February 20th. If you do not receive a letter or wish to inquire as to the date of appointment, please contact the Assessor's Office.
To be scheduled for a hearing, the original written application for an appeal of Real Estate, Personal Property, and Motor Vehicle assessments of October 1, 2023, Grand List and the 2022 Supplemental Motor Vehicle Grand List must be filed and received in the Assessors Office no later than close of business (4:30 p.m.) Tuesday, February 20, 2024, if the Grand List is filed in January 2024. If the Grand List is filed in February 2024 applications must be filed and received in the Assessors Office no later than close of business (4:30 p.m.) Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
Please follow the application instructions carefully and be sure to include your estimate of the full value of the property. Any photos or other evidence you bring to your hearing will become the property of the Board of Assessment Appeals. We encourage you to keep copies of any information you supply. Photocopies of your information will not be made at the time of your hearing. If you bring a Real Estate property appraisal, the appraisal value must be the value as of 10-01-2021 and must be a full appraisal certified to the Board of Assessment Appeals.

Motor Vehicle Appeals
Board of Assessment appeals hearings for motor vehicles on October 1, 2023, Grand List will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 9:25 am. to noon at the Wolcott town hall in the assessor's office. You are not required to file an application to appeal your October 1, 2023 motor vehicle assessment at this hearing. The value that you would be appealing is the value of the vehicle as of October 1, 2023. Please contact the assessor's office for additional information.
